Russian Menus are all empty

Postby scottpig » 05 Jan 2008 00:58

Hi,

VLC 0.8.6d/Vista Home edition

When I configure the system for Russian menus and restart VLC, all the menus, (File, View, Settings, etc.) are blank. Is there a way to get the Russian localization to work?

Details:

I configure the system for Russian in either of two ways, both of which have the same result:

1) VLC settings -> Preferences...|Language = Auto + Windows Control Panel | Regional and Language Options | Current Format = Russian (Russia)

or

2) VLC settings -> Preferences...|Language = Russian + Windows Control Panel | Regional and Language Options | Current Format = English (United States)

C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\locale\ru\LC_MESSAGES contains vlc.mo, which is 421 KB

Experimenting, I find that French and Spanish setting work fine, but some of the other non-western European languages do not work as well.

Thank you,

Scott
