VLC button on website

Postby majidemo » 20 Mar 2011 08:10

I saw this website > http://www.cacaoweb.org

if installed they have an option that allows you to click a button and it will play a file by "remote play/stream".

i hope you get what i mean, can you help me? or point me to the right direction? thanks.

Button Click > Open VLC that is streaming media from a .php page,

ex. the VLC title will look like this.
"http://local.cacaoweb.org:4001/megavide ... d=67P6DSFS - VLC media player"

EDIT: so , ive been searching and found out something about protocols?
like click a button thats "vlc://link/to/file.avi", but how to do something like this? :)

Hi, majidemo:

I do not think VLC now can support the similar function like what have been done on cacaoweb.org.
It's a P2P feature, so they use "a proprietary client" software to play the video.

But, it's possible if they implement the client into a service that will translate the download video pieces into stream then use VLC to play that stream.
(VLC may have do some patch for it, still.)
