ActiveX works for 0.8.6 and 0.9.6 but I have another problem

Hi Everybody !

Finally I can run movies now for a customers webshop in Internet Explorer as well in FireFox (VLC embedded, Firefox plugin). I was busy for days with this problem (everytime another problem) but when you take the example http://people.videolan.org/~damienf/plugin-0.8.6.html than you may be finish your problem at once, but before you are so far  ... Take care there is one bug to solve, add the installation path C:\Program files\Videolan\VLC or your other installation directory to your PATH environment variabel in windows. Otherwise you get as well in Internet Explorer as Firefox the message "... can't access .. " when you enter your video example! Hopely this will be solved in a next release of VLC (you don't have this problem when you use direct the pc version).
But of course there are always other problems.
1) My customer has splitted his .pgm movie in smaller ones with a splitter program. That splitted movie will play totally in the VLC pc version direct, but in the embedded version only a small part (images stands still after 2 secons) but the counter continues to the end. My own example .pgm movies have no problems. What can be the problem ?
2) He want to sell his (sports) movies (by download or viewing on the website) but when you show the location of the movie (that can be seen in the url) in fact smart people can download it for free. Is there a solution ?

Thank you already if you have an idea.

1) This is really weird and rare, VLC plugins are the same as VLC.
2) Don't show the URL? :D

Hi j-b!

I corrected my first message so I can help a lot of other people too. Because you never find a complete answer how to solve a problem. But I have done clean installations for Firfox and Internet Explorer plus VLC and that bug for the PATH gives the complete solution.

It is a horses website (not even build because I have to be sure embedded VLC works and it works now, thank you builders, and WMP does not play on all platforms) and I have to work I think with temporary directories because people can always see the directory where the video is stored, because actually called in Java (so that is always visible) and have time enough to show/store the complete video from the VLC pc version. In the meantime you can' do nothing in your server because you give the opportunity to your visitor to watch the video. So my solution now is to show only a video for 15 seconds (it may be downloaded as described) and than they can download the complete one as a payed one when payed. They can always duplicate their own ones, so they may also download another one in that temporary directory because they already payed for it.

Hi j-b !

1) That is right, but when I use in my direct pc VLC version, the copied movie from my internetsite I get the same problem. Only when I use the same movie in my pc it runs without problems. So maybe it has to do with streaming (maybe my internet provider delivers the movie not so fast to my pc but the program continues, maybe there is a problem in speed because it is a splitted movie and has a problem but not direct runned) ...

probably caching values, yes... Do you have VLC messages?

Hi j-b !

No I don't have VLC messages about this problem but I have found something else.

I have an internet speed of 40 Mbps and when somebody else with an internet speed of 100 Mbps runs the movie, it runs ok. My own example .mpg movie runs always (also via the internet).

That kind of movies from horses taken with a special camera have this problem, so there is something not right with the speed (this movie does not run either in WMP direct without internet but another person sees only a piece and it stops; without internet this movie runs in VLC without problems).

But why continues the counter to 5 seconds (length movie) in VLC while the movie does not run anymore (you see the same picture after 1 second running). You should think the counter waits when there is a problem with the movie.

The stream bitratio from my own example movie (no problem) is 1376 and from the horses movie (VLC internet probleem and WMP problem) has a stream bitratio 6249.

I have tried alle settings of cache in VLC and the problem stays.
