v.0.9.6 browser plugin crashes browsers

Hi there,
I am using the v.0.9.6 plugin for FF with FF 3.0.3 and ActiveX control with IE 7 on Win XP SP3.
When I open a page with the VLC plugin I still get this annoying C++ runtime library error R6034 on FF (can anyone solve this please!!). Ok, I'm almost used to this problem now, so let's continue.
But then: the video is not starting automatically anymore (it does with vlc-0.9.6-git-20081104) and when I use playlist.play() FF crashes completely. Same with IE 7.
When I re-install the nightly build again, everythings works fine again (aside from the Visual C++ error).
Yes, I have removed all preferences and caches while installing 0.9.6.
The errors are reproducable.
After having so much trouble with the browser plugins of the recent VLC versions I tend to say that the browser plugins are not maintained anymore. Will there ever be a stable Windows version again?
Thanks
