change the web interface

Hi!
I want to try to build a special webinterface for the VLM.
I want so change only a few parameters to given values.
So I have to delete some stuff, an improve the input forms.
Does anyone know how to start?
There are some html files in /usr/share/vlc/http
I tried copying the vlm.html to vlm2.html and work with this file.
the http server don't work with files he don't know I think....
can anyone help me?
