Installing ActiveX Plugin

Postby jagster » 07 Sep 2006 08:41

So I tried installing the activex plugin in IE, service pack 2 windows xp.

I already had VLC media player installed and I reran the installer saying "do not uninstall vlc" then installed the activex plugin.

It doesn't show up in manage add ons and I havn't been able to get it to play any video. I tried manually registering the dll using regserv and it kept saying module not found even though it was there.

Bottom line I can't get it to install no matter what I try. Is there any way to install it or what is wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Edit: I ran the test page in the zip file version of VLC and it temporarily installed the plugin. I was able to see it on the manage add ons thing. But when I go to other web pages it no longer appears in the add-ons. Also it is never used in any video. Was wondering if I need to set vlc as default to make it work inside IE? Much less have the plugin installed all the time..

So confused, any help would be awesome.
