hello,
I'm testing this Acer Aspire Idea500 with a Dreambox 7020 and trying to use VLC...now I try the Web-x-tv on the DBox web-interface, and I get an "visualization error"...but if I use the streaming directly from the VLC proggy, I get regular images from the box...so I guess it's the ActiveX or Mozilla plugin that ain't going
I installed the last 0.85 VLC .exe and all the options (Mozilla and ActiveX), and have to add that the feature is regularly working on my other 2 pc's...of course I even tried applications like DreamView (that is using the ActiveX plugin)...but noway... :(
Can u help please ? any suggestion is welkome.
Tnx.

Line : 262

caracter : 5

error: property or method not supported by the object

code: 0

...if anyone has an idea he's welkome

it sounds like the web-x-tv interface needs some bug fixing, may be you should post the developers a message

...don't think so...why then on my 2 other pc's with WinXP SP2 (no Mediacenter) same updated os the thing is going like a charm ? :?:
What does exactly the VLC plugin need to work ? DirectX (I suppose), Java and other drivers too ? Maybe in the Mediacenter something is missing ?
Tnx.

I wrote a little plugin based on the activex with mediacenter interface to control the vlc player in mediacenter and it works.
Here is a screenshot so you know what i mean.

I will send you a pm with the link to download this little plugin maybe this will work for you.

looks really nice and works well

one thing that came to mind is that we need a autoinstaller (activex perhaps)
so the user dont need to go away from the mce site, to go videolan.org for the vlc installer.

:D Thanks

For the autoinstaller it indeed would be nice, but there are some problems.

- VLC installer is not automatic so you have to go back to windows to install it.
- There is the problem from the hotkeys that need to be defined, but i think there is a way to write youre own ini file to define them I will look into that. EDIT: Found it that would be the .....\Application Data\vlc\vlcrc file opening this in notepad will give you the preferences so this is not a big problem.

Maybe only the activex i think that can be done.

There are some request in the request forum for a simple automatic installer but I think that it will be years for the first one to come out.

I will think about it :), maybe something else will come to mind.
Some other question for what do you want to use it

Just what I was looking for, now I could watch HD xvids on MCE with 2 audio tracks, AC3 and DTS passthrough to the sound system... can't get this to work with MCE right now...

Can't you host the file somewhere ?

Thanks a lot... this getting MCE to play through SPDIF is driving me nuts. I know VLC can do it well.

Edit: Aaaahh, success !... I can now watch all the Band of Brothers episodes in High Def Xvid (720p) and DTS passthrough to the receiver through Media Center Edition.

thanks again

I get some remarks that the VLCplugin for MCE wouldn't work.
Well that is true if you are using vlc-player 0.8.6 I designed this plugin for 0.8.5 when I get the time i will update the plugin for vlc player 0.8.6

Well it is not directly a plugin for the dreambox but to control the vlc player in MCE.
It is also not possible to record like you record programms in MCE you can only record manualy when you switch to fullscreen and configure vlc the right way.
For me i wrote the plugin to watch my firewire dv cam and use it as surveilance cam.
The new plugin i am writing now there will be a lot more options, but how and what i still don't know exactly. Already finished is to adjust brightness, gamma, contrast and saturation while playing a video.

It is for the moment only a player and not a recorder, because it is not so easy. The activeX supports only a few basic functions.
