append to file

I am using the addtarget function to save a streaming video to a file. I would like to keep a single file.
How do I append a steaming video to an exisitng file?

I have tried all the VLCPlaylistMode, the only one that creates a file is VLCPlayListInsert, the rest do not seem to have any effect .

We don't support this. Even if we did, it would not work the way you'd expect. You can't simply put the content of two media files together to obtain a single longer media.
