Saving databases in a cloud?

Hello,
I am currently busy developing web applications. I'm still in the beginning and still learning, and I hope that I will find people here who have much more experience in developing web applications. I don't have so much capital that I can invest in a lot of hardware to manage the database, among other things. So I would like to move the database to a cloud, because I've read that it's possible, for example with Aiven. For this you need a so-called database as a service provider, because you can use it to manage and monitor databases easily and clearly. A cloud of your choice is possible for integration.
Has anyone ever experienced this? How well does it work? Can you rely on it, or can a cloud also "fail" like hardware, or is that rather safe?
