web streaming is not working

I followed the necessary steps to enable and run the web service for vlc, and so when playing some media in the web interface, I will try to play it with the easy stream button.

Now this asks me to run flash, and when I run flash the video just stays gray.

I was really hoping to be able to use vlc as a streaming server of sorts, it being hosting a web interface one could watch videos on would be more than enough, i guess its never quite that simple with open source programs

can anyone help me/
