how to play website embedded Mp3 in VLC

Is there a way that I can get embedded mp3s on websites to open in VLC? I don't want a plug-in, I want to open the file in the full VLC player so I can have more control over the audio volume. I use Chrome on Windows 7. The files that I want to open appear in the form of an embedded player -- I want to hit the play button and have the file open in VLC.
