I write DSP audio plugins and visualization plugins for Windows Media Player, using Windows SDK. Is there a way to do the same for the VLC player, if there is documentation for that? I use Visual Studio for my development.

You can add audio filter and visualization plugins to VLC, using the LibVLC SDK. But it probably can't be done with VS.
