VLC ActiveX without IE

I tryed to use VLC 0.8.2 activeX in a little C++ demo application, but it crash.

release notes says :

Changes between 0.8.2 and 0.8.4-svn (not yet released):

...

ActiveX plugin:
- Should now work outside IE as well

- Do you know when 0.8.4 version will be probably released. (question of days, weeks, more? )
- Is it possible to found anywhere a preview of this 0.8.4, without building it ? (install of cygwin, ...)

0.8.4 will be released in less than a month (a test version should be available in a week)

the nightly builds server died yesterday so unfortunately i don't have such a link available
