How to compile npapi-vlc on OS X Mavericks ?

Please give us the right & complete guide to compile npapi-vlc on OS X Mavericks. And where can I get the last release of the npapi-plugin (01/21/14) ?
Perian is discontinued.QuickTime has always been bad. VLC-Npapi Plugin should be the right and only solution to stream video & audio on the Web !

FBVLC need a specific implementation. So, I need more Npapi-vlc
I'm getting errors with make :
Code: Select all
MacBookAir:npapi-vlc root# make
/bin/sh ./config.status --recheck
running CONFIG_SHELL=/bin/sh /bin/sh ./configure LIBVLC_CFLAGS=-I/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/include/ LIBVLC_LIBS=-L/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/lib/ MOZILLA_CFLAGS=-I/Users/HLFH/gecko/ --no-create --no-recursion

Do not compile as root.
Then, your issue is a bug. Might be related to clang in Mavericks.

I think I must install VLCKit too for libvlc (and for npapi-vlc), right ?
git clone git://git.videolan.org/vlc-bindings/VLCKit.gi
export CC=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/cc
export CXX=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/c++
export OBJC=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/cc
cd VLCKIT/
make
It's taking more than 13 GB of RAM !!!! I have 4 GB. So, after, xcodebuild & bash & make are using my virtual memory. I can't compile in these conditions on Mavericks 10.9.1.
Is there a binary for VLCKit ?

Thanks for this point. You are just saying that VLC & VLCKit & LibVLC & Npapi-vlc & FBVLC are not optimized for the Mac Way of Life.
So maybe, I have to try another solution for streaming.

Thanks so much Jean-Baptiste Kempf, you made my day !
I'm using OwnCloud with Embedded Videostream (
http://apps.owncloud.com/content/show.p ... ent=162915) and it works with your build sent on PM. For the moment, the subtitles are not loading > just tested with Sintel (using Firefox, OwnCloud & Embedded Videostream) :
