We are considering to use VLC plug-in in different web browsers to decode and display the RTSP live streaming for a commercial product. Does it allowed to use VLC plug-in freely or we need to pay someone to use it?

Then do we need to open our source code to comply with VLC's GPL2 license model? Thanks!

No, you should be fine, notably with VLC 2.1.0, since libVLC is LGPL now

I noticed that the source code for the browser plugins still reference GPLv2. Will they eventually be modified to be LGPL as well? We are also interested in using the VLC web-browser plugin in our commercial application but want to be sure we can legally do so.
