Web Plugin unavailable in 2.0.6 stable?

Hi,

I've been anxiously awaiting VLC 2.0.6 stable for its web plugin with windowless mode. I've been using nightly builds successfully with this feature in Google Chrome on Windows 7. I just installed 2.0.6 stable, only to find that the web plugin does not seem to be present in this release. When I start Chrome I get an error saying "VLC Web Plugin cannot be loaded". Firefox simply hangs.

Am I missing something or have I run into a bug?

Thanks, Pascal

Did you activate the option to get the webplugin?

I have same issue in IE7. :-(
Updated to 2.0.6 and plugin was no longer available.
Downgraded to 2.0.5 again and everything works fine again.

@Jean-Baptiste,

I did not touch the default installation options. So, for example, the Mozilla-plugin and ActiveX-plugin are checked by default and I did not uncheck them. I did it in the exact same way as with the nightly build installer and that installer works fine.

Interesting, it is a mis-compilation issue...

In Firefox : web browser freeze when i call a page with the web plugin

For what it's worth, I'm experiencing the same thing. Windows 7 64 bit, Firefox hangs whenever the plugin is activated. More specifically, it hangs for about 45 seconds and then I see a black page.

I was also experiencing the problem of run-away memory consumption upon launch of the VLC player, but I got the updated 2.0.6 build from the direct link, and that is resolved. No change in the plugin behavior, though.

Sorry, not sure I follow. Are you saying go with 2.0.5? Or that there's some "mis-compilation" issue that's being looked into?

Hello Jean-Baptiste

VLC 2.0.6 installed from Windows installer (.exe) on Windows XP and Windows 7
IE = ActiveX OK
Firefox / Chrome = Plugin OK

Good job :)

Is this 2.0.6 build will be deployed on your servers for everyone ?

@Jean-Baptiste Yes, it works now. Cool, thanks! Is the "official download" now this corrected package too, or is it just available via your link?
