Webpage embedded multicast

Hi All, im looking to do the following;
I need to have a webpage that when a person clicks on a thumbnail it opens the new page and automatically starts VLC playing a multicast stream.
And i need it to be compatible with any type of browser or portable device.
How do i accomplish this with VLC??
Any help would be extremely appreciated.
