Firefox plugin blues with winXP

Postby ib » 05 Aug 2006 19:16

Hi,

I just reinstalled Windows XP SP2 on my PC (AMD 3200+ / Radeon 9600 XT / 2 GB RAM / Firefox latest version 1.5.0.6). I am trying to stay away from Windows Media Player and trying to replace it with VLC where ever I can.

I installed VLC Mozilla plugin, but it only works with the demo files if I hit 'play'. (http://altair.videolan.org/~dionoea/vlc-plugin-demo/) If I hit the refresh button of my browser, it crashes.

If I try to play my favorite TV show's streamin videos (http://www.comedycentral.com/tv_shows/t ... onstewart/), it is blank where the video should appear. No play button either. If I refresh the page, Firefox crashes. The only way I could watch it is by uninstalling the mozilla plugin and letting WMP 9 play it.

Is the plugin for windows broken ? How can I tell for sure ?

Thx,
ib
