VLC Plugin

Can any one help please - In IE or Chrome - When I type in my IP address of my Compro security camera - it loads to a certain point where the camera layout is visible (but no video at this stage) - then a message comes up saying "Your VLC plug in has not been detected - please go to http://www. videolan.org " - I go this website to download the undetected plug-in - but once on the VLC website there is no direction on what or which pluin to down load - I already have VLC installed on my PC ??
