Showing OSD after updating volume using dbus

Postby VincentD » 27 Jan 2014 00:48

Hi all !

I created a python script which (among other things) sets the volume level of VLC to a specified value. I used dbus on Linux, and set directly the read/write "Volume" property exposed on dbus.

It works as expected but I have no OSD feedback. Indeed with Ctrl+Up there is a beautiful volume OSD shown.

I wonder if there is a workaround to show the volume OSD on demand, or if a showOSD method can (or is planed to) be exposed through dbus.

Thanks for the reply.

I think the OSD is only shown on hotkeys.
