VLC ActiveX Plugin not listed in PowerPoint

I'm wanting to embed a live stream in PowerPoint but the VLC plugin is not in the list when I go to the Developer tab and click on More Controls.

When I installed VLC I made sure the ActiveX Plugin was ticked.

I noticed that there is a C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins folder. Could it be in here somewhere? I have not been able to find any file containing activex in the file name

Or is there somewhere I can get the plugin download from?

look for axvlc.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\

It says Cannot register this control.

I am running into the same issue. Version 3.0.6 installed successful with the ActiveX option selected during install. Powerpoint does not list as an option for Add-in through the Developer Tab, gears, etc. When selecting the axvlc.dll file manually to add, I receive the same error.

Any resolutions available for this? I have spent a lot of time combing through everything that is listed on the internet and have not found a fix to embed VLC movies into a MS Powerpoint 2016 presentation.

Do you use the same platform for VLC and Office? For example VLC 32bits and Office 32bits? If the platforms are different, it will not work.

I uninstalled all and reinstalled using 32bit for both Office and VLC. The active X component did appear. Thank you!

Install VLC on your computer. Make sure that the ActiveX Plugin check box is enabled during installation. If this option wasn’t selected when VLC was installed, the VLC ActiveX Control will not be available in PowerPoint.
