save a stream

Postby oui » 09 Jun 2011 10:19

Hi

I did install VLC in Debian SID with the KDE 4 (I suppose that the KDE-Viewer is the main viewer and I don' t know how to change the standard viewer definition in SID but it is not my purpose today) in French translation and I did start VLC to view a public TV video in format mms://.../.../... .wmv,

It works great.

I would be now interessting to record the stream to cut it and save parts of it because not all thematics is interessting for me and the stream is very long (more than 30 minutes; I have only interest in a few minutes of it!),

I see on French in Media > convertir/enregistrer (Ctrl R)

Can I use this function to record the stream?

In this case a new windows opens

Under the tab "reseau" I can enter my url

At the bottom I find a selector "convertir/sauvergarder" and after that 4 choice Alt+E/P/S/C . What is the best choice for my purpose?

Thank you for help!

Kind regards

As I did not find a complete solution for this job, I did open a discussion about it in there to try to find and describe all steps needed.

please see above link.

Problem is that after download of video as *.MP4 with VLC the quality of the video is not good enough!
