83 Seconds for video to start, why?

Postby SteveRicketts » 24 Jul 2009 20:34

I just ran a couple of tests streaming video with Windows Media Encoder streaming at 28kbps 320x240.

Both the ActiveX version and desktop VLC (both version 1.0) took 83 seconds before the video started to play. Actually, it took about 80 seconds before the connection IP's showed up on the WME connection screen, like it didn't even try to connect for that long. This is from an HTTP stream on port 8080. Clients were on the same computer and they, as well as the WME server, are on the same LAN.

What could be causing such a large delay?

Thanks,

sr

HTTP stream on port 8080. WMP takes about 3 seconds to buffer and 10 to start playing the same stream for comparison.
