Adding subtitles "on the fly"

Postby Primož Čas » 15 Apr 2009 11:20

Hello, I have a problem that I can't find a solution, but it maybe very trivial...

I'm live streaming council meetings, and would like to add text on video stream. It has to be "on the fly", no restarting VLC and thus stopping stream. I ve been looking at marq but as I understand text has to be defined when starting vlc (is that correct?). I want to do that during streaming many times (every time speaker on stand changes).

Is it trivial and I'm missing something? Can anybody point me in the right direction with at least a few keywords :D

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I'm trying to do more or less the same... (hardcoding the plugin itself)
I tried using osd_Message but there's some lack of documentation
and I couldn't figure out how to use it correctly. The same for the subpicture
unit... I could succeed using the mediacontrol_display_text, but it goes in conflict
with the playlist functionalities (vlc plugins still use deprecated functions, are them
gonna be updated?) and the result is that I cannot use anymore "HTML" interface...

in few words: if you find a solution, please share it
Thanks!
