Customizing the "Native" skin

Hello everybody,

I find the native skin in VLC to be the best since it has "F11" fake-fullscreen mode and real-fullscreen auto-hiding controls. It's simple, not sexy I guess, but it does the job just fine. The only thing I find bad about it is its pretty bright greyish colour which especially in fullscreen mode where it's like looking at headlights  I suppose this grey colour is to match the win7 OS window background colour (on my screen the colour is #EEEEEE), but isn't there any way to edit this to a darker grey ?

Many thanks in advance !

No, you cannot easily change that.

That's a pity.... Anyway a darker background colour could be switched on in next vlc version ? (in the 1.2.0-git I saw there's already a dropdown menu to switch native skin style between XP, Vista, "classical", so I suppose vlc' native skin isn't that hardcoded to use the OS's widgets & colours). Maybe just an extra tickbox "dim player UI in Fullscreen" ?

many thx in advance

Is there anyway to down load the default vlc skin to edit. I tried to find it in install directory but I didn't find anything.

You can find the skin in the VLC folder under /skins/default.vlt (You can extract that .vlt file with 7zip or Winrar)

I already read that some where in the forum, but I mean about the Native player not the Default skin.

Native, is not a skin.
