Darken native interface grey background-color

Hi!
I use VLC on a my windows7 notebook. I love the native interface and am used to it for years now. But when i watch movies (especially dark ones, for example „The Godfather“) i would like to have the grey background-color of the GUI darker. I tried out some skins but found the usability not as good as in the native interface.

So, how can i simply darken the grey color of the background color without changing the whole GUI?

Please pardon my bad english and thanks in avance for your hints

I don't think you can easily, the grey is set by the system, not by vlc.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know, where/how Windows sets this color? Is the color defined by a registry key?
Or, the other way around, is it possible to create a theme that only changes the color of the native interface without touching the functionality?

On Windows 7 right-click on the desktop and choose customize. Then go to the settings for the window color. There go to the advanced settings. Select 3D-Objects from the drop-down menu. There you can change the color of window backgrounds, including VLC's.
