Windos MEdia Player

Postby lamidesbetes » 18 Mar 2010 20:18

Is it possible to create a skin to look like the media center?

Is it possible to read images from a file list or directory auto-scanning?
Is it possible to create a list of bmp picture associated to movies like in the ipad-skin?
is it possible to play a playlist, while reading the precedent file list of images?

Is somebody working on this purpose please?

The quick answer to your first question " Is it possible to create a skin that looks like media center? " is yes. However, because VLC is still limited in the way it renders transparent images the process for creating skins like media center can be very extensive project even with the skin editor. I'm not sure about what your asking in your other questions, but if I had guess I would say it is something the developers would need to hard code and add in. Hopefully you already know that the developers for the VLC Media Player are volunteers who work on their own time for free to provide us with the free VLC Media Player. What that means is that it could take a while for new features to be added to the VLC. However, if you are independently wealthy and have a bunch of money to throw around you could try donating some cash to the VLC guys and it would most likely help speed things up a bit.

It would be possible to do a skin that looks like the Windows Media Center when it is in playback mode.

All other points are not possible with VLC. And I doubt that they will be in the near future. VLC is not a Media Center application. But there exist open source Media Center apps.

Windows Media player sucks and it kinda made me hate its design together with it, my own opinion though i do look for cool skins too =)
