How to specify a base skin folder?

Postby thoste » 06 Mar 2009 09:11

I grouped all favorite skins in a sub-folder in the directory tree.

Whenever I want to change the skin I have to start somewhere else and have to manually click through all
the directory tree.

This is unconvenient. Is there a way to specify the base folder where all the skins are saved?

Can I pass the skin as command line parameter to vlc.exe?

Put the downloaded VLT files in the following folder:

* On Windows: the skins folder in the VLC installation directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\VLC\skins)
* On Linux/Unix: ~/.share/vlc/skins2
These are the default "base folders" where all skins are saved.
You can pass the skin as command line parameter. Use the following command:

Code: Select all

vlc -I skins2 --skins2-last=PATHTOSKIN
-- 3breadt (aka altglass)
