Huh this doesn't seem to be a very active forum at all.. But as a love VLC but hate its skinning problem, I have a question.. Could someone please (in layman's term's) explain to me the process of converting a mac VLC skin to a Windows one? I found a really great VLC skin, but it only works for a mac and i'll do almost anything necessary to make it into a windows one. Any help could be greatly appreciated. I guess i'll be waiting for the response on this one though...

VLC doesn't support skins on Mac. What you saw was probably the Mac default interface, which is indeed different from the Windows default interface.

It might be possible to create a skin (working on Windows) looking the same, though (if you have enough screenshots to get all the needed images).

That is not a skin for VLC. It is a modification of the Mac interface of VLC. So don't blam VLC's skin engine-

But one could create a skin on basis of the mac interface by takin the images from the Mac .app file or the Source code, e.g.

exactly, just create the skin from the images (some more work is needed though, like background image of the innerface etc)

If you have all the button images you still need an image for the background of the application on which the buttons can be placed.

Maybe this could help you when using the skin editor:

is there any difference in the process of making a skin with the video embedded and one where the video plays in the separate box?

You would just have to add a Video item/element to a window in the skin. If that video element is not present in a visible window of the skin, vlc will play the video in a normal unskinned separate window.
