Skins on Opensuse 10.2

using VLC 086 on opensuse 10.2 with standard interface works very well.
If I switch the player to start in the skinnable interface I run into problems.
The player takes almost one minute to start in the skinnable interface. it opens almost immediately and the movie begins playing but I cannot close, stop or change anything for almost one minute.
What do I need to check here to fix things up.
Thanks

Do you use the default skin (black and white)?
Did you try resetting the configuration (vlc --reset-config --reset-plugins-cache).
Try also to start directly in skins2 mode (vlc --reset-config --reset-plugins-cache -I skins2).
Do you have warnings and/or errors related to the skinnable interface in the logs (add the -v flag for warnings)?

Both these setting work just fine. Th problem I run into is when I go and set the skinnable interface as the default interface for when vlc starts in the vlc settings.
If Iopen vlc directly from a video file the movie loads immediately but the interface is unresponsive to any changes for about one minute. I can't stop it or anything.

As you can see - this issue was never resolved for me . . .so I just stopped using VLC.
Check it out from time to time but problem is still the same.
I use smplayer instead now. Works without problem.
