Yet another skin crash...

Postby MetalheadGautham » 07 May 2007 21:15

I just wanted to tell you that ALMOST EVERY SKIN I HAVE USED TO PLAY A FILE HAS CRASHED:evil:. I try to switch interface, or seek video, or increase/decrease volume, and I experience such problems... :(

This is what happened in the DEFAULT SKIN, when I tried to switch to another skin:

On Linux, blindly use VLC, SMPlayer, Kaffeine, GXine, Totem and MPlayer

VLC version: OVER 9000!!!
Operating System: It's...blue screen
Location: Heaven? No no. What's that other place that starts with an "H"? Oh yes: Home. ^_^

Try switching the skin through the Start menu: Start > All Programs > VideoLAN > Quick Settings > Interface > Set Main Interface to Skinnable. You'll start with the "Default" skin (not the default interface) and from there you can select a skin.

For some reason switching skins from within the interface just doesn't work so well.

That's what I told you in the other thread: the (in)stability is not due to a particular skin.

You still haven't given any useful information to help reproducing your bug.
VLC version? Does it get better after resetting the prefs? Did you try a nightly build? Can you give a step-by-step _reproducible_ way to get the crash?

OK, here goes:

VLC 0.8.6b

Windows XP Pro, Pentium 4 2.66 ghz, 256 mb ram

Way to reproduce a crash: randomly fiddle with controls, drag, drop files, do lots of stuff - lo vlc crashes. it occures randomly,so I can't help on giving exact detail. and the nightlies are horrible in skin support.

Why horrible? Nightly builds are what comes closest to the future release, so if something is so horrible, it's important to know it!
