Skins2 = Crash

wxWidgets works fine but if I try and use a skin2, vlc will crash.

I'm using vlc 0.8.6 for Ubuntu (feisty) but as far as I can remember this has happened in WindowsXP as well as Ubuntu dapper/edgy and it has happened with previous versions of vlc that used skins2 (I didn't try earlier skin1 versions). So I'm pretty sure this isn't a problem with Ubuntu Feisty.

All I have to do is switch to skins2 and select a skin and it has a good chance of crashing. Switching to another skin also increases the chance of crash. If I try to go back to wxWidgets is may crash and if it does manage to change back to wxWidgets it likely will not write it in the vlcrc file (I had to edit it by hand to make wxWidgets stick).

What's going on?

Crash with the "chaos" skin on Fedora Core 6

I use VLC on Fedora Core 6 (GNOME) and in my case VLC does not crash with most skins, but when I choose the "chaos" skin it always crashes. 100%.

Plus, nothing happens when I choose the "solar" skin.

There are no bad jokes from the CloudStalker. Where would you get that from? (reads though previous posts) oh yeah, but those were funny. :lol:

Backtraces of the crashes (if possible from a vlc compiled in debug mode) would be very useful...
See viewtopic.php?t=27972 or viewtopic.php?t=26743 for how to do it.
