Problems with skins2

hi, there!

I got to know vlc player couple days ago and am trying to install it with skins2. but it doesn't work very well.
(with 0.8.5 under win XP)

So, I guess the main reason why it doesn't work is about the language. I'm not using English windows XP. So I think VLC is not able to create cache file or folder under application data folder and temp folder under Documents and Settings.

If so, is there any possibility that you guys are going to set up additional language support? Or is there any way to resolve this problem?

If not, what should I do? like some others, I cannot load skins2 at all. When I try, it crashses. I have reseted preferences tons of times. And I tried lots of ways to load the skins2.

the recipe that DJ instructed ; I tried.
changing interface module to skinnable (not the extra one) ; I tried.

Could you try creating another user account with only ASCII characters, and try again under that account? If it works, the problem would be rather well identified, thus easier to fix...

I have exactly the same problem as Seaman.

(Win XP german, vlc 0.8.5, skins don't work)

My loginname contains Umlauts.

I tried on an account without special characters, and it worked fine!

Hoping for a fix.

Since the previous versions, most of the strings in VLC core are UTF8 strings, which changes the way special characters are handled. This change has introduced many problems, most of which are fixed now... but these are remaining bugs, which were unnoticed for a longer time
