[VLC v0.8.5] Skins2 Errors

Postby chaosblizzard » 01 Oct 2006 04:19

I keep receiving errors when attempting to make Skins2 the default when starting VLC. To make things worse, VLC will not remember my skins settings when starting up. I have searched the forums, and I have tried everything that was suggested, including using the drop down box in preferences under interface. VLC now starts up with an error code due to me changing the settings to what was suggested.

Error information:
Messages: vlc.exe - Application Error
The exception Array bounds exceeded.
(0x000008c) occurred in the application at location (0x62665f1b).

The program then forces me to terminate it.

Every time I start VLC now, it generates a new array error, sometimes with a dll file that belongs to VLC, sometimes it's unknown.

The only ModName I have found to be included in the error report is as follows..

AppName: vlc.exe
AppVer: 0.8.5.0
ModName: libwxwidgets_plugin.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 00265f1b

Notable information:
These errors occurred when I selected both interface module "Skinnable Interface" under the drop down, and checking "Skinnable Interface" under extra interface modules at the SAME time, and clicking save, then restarting VLC.

I had to delete the Application Data folder for VLC to correct the issue.

I still can't get VLC to remember it's skin settings.

You should not check the checkbox, only the dropdown should be used. Then save the preferences.

If when starting VLC the skinnable interface is still not the default one, it means that the shortcut you use overrides your setting: edit your shortcut, and remove the '-I wx' part (or something similar). Also note that on Windows there should be a shortcut to start directly with the skinnable interface.
