Do animated bitmaps only work on buttons and not checkboxes?

I'm trying to make an animated checkbox so I can have it play a different animation once clicked and a song is playing, but it won't animate, it's just static. However, if I use a button, the animation plays. What's the deal?

You should be able to use animated images with both the 'Button' and the 'Checkbox' tags. Please copy/paste the code that is not working to help figure out what is wrong.
