hx skin causing crash when exit during playback

Postby OhCanada » 27 Dec 2008 18:29

Hello. I have been running the hx skinned interface on the new version of VLC on windows (0.9.8a on vista home basic) and have the problem that whenever I am running a movie (doesnt matter which formats) and I exit VLC without stopping the video VLC disappears but stays in taskbar unresponsive. I cant open another instance of VLC without closing the frozen one from task manager. Sometimes something about directX will pop up but I am not sure if this has anything to do with the problem. This is only a problem in the skinned interface and in normal mode or using classic skin this is no longer an issue, but i miss the lovely hx colors etc. Anyone got any clever ideas?? Thanks in advance!

[BUMP] Is this crash while closing during playback (in skinned mode only) a known problem running VLC on Vista??

I'm trying to use skins and whenever I click the close button on a skin VLC crashes. happens with any skin and doesn't have to be during playback.

Delete preferences and cache files (search forum for how). They try some skins out again.

I've just downloaded VLC v0.9.9 and mine also locks up when closing the main window while a video is playing when the ASkin skin is installed; the native works fine. I have also reset the cache/preferences by clicking on the 'Reset VLC media player preferences and cache files' menu shortcut etc. And also tried deleting the VLC directory in %appdata%. :(

Jase.

I've got a feeling I'm going to be 'flamed' on this one, but where can I download v1.0.0 from?

Thanks, Jason.

Hi guys, I tried the nightly build "vlc-1.0.0-rc4-20090618-0003-win32" and it has the same issue. It freezes on exit. Does anyone have any idea when this may be fixed?

I am using Windows 7.

Thanks
psepa
