Embarking on a new adventure

Postby Earthshker » 04 Jan 2009 16:32

Where do I start when it comes to creating a new skin?, I have the skin maker downloaded. I have some graphics ready to go, all the necessary transport buttons made up (play, stop pause etc.)
I see the basic version of vlc player doesn't have a spectrum display, this is one thing I would like to include.
Would somebody point me in teh right direction?

1) Where do I start when building a custom skin for VLC player? Surely there is a reference document somewhere that shows the basic setup.
2)I have the vlc skin maker downloaded. Now what?
3)I have an industrial looking mini rack already drawn up, this will be my main image all I need to do is put the other elements on (in) it.
4) I already have the basic "transport buttons" made up (play, pause, next, previous, etc.)

Where do I go from here?
Just point me to where to go to get the stuff I need, I will take it from there.

I hope this clears things up as to what I want to do, if not I will try again, sometimes I tend to ramble, and that confuses some folks.

Ok now a related query, is there a spectrum analyzer plug-in available for VLC player, I would like to include this feature in my skin?

Tutorial on building a basic skin with the skin editor http://www.videolan.org/vlc/skinedhlp/basics.html

No there is no spectrum analyzer plug-in for skins.

But not "visualization" that can be built directly into the skin, just as video output.
