Skins do not display properly after 0.9.2 upgrade

Postby mlcampbe » 25 Sep 2008 21:17

I was using VLC 0.8.6 and had several skins loaded and all worked just fine. I just upgraded to 0.9.2 and now my skins no longer look correct. They are blotchy and completely unusable. The only skin I have found to work is the presume.vlt one.

The others I have tried and do not work are:
blissta
wmp11
heaven
mpui

Any ideas?

Skins are a bit in a so-so state now, so I may work on those someday... But I don't know about specific 0.9 issues about displaying...

Did you try reseting your VLC preferences?

I have the same problem. After upgrading to 9.2 none of the skins work - either they display scrambled, or don't display at all. Yes, I deleted my preferences. I even tried downloading skins that say "updated" or "require 9.0 or above", and still none of them work. Any suggestions?

In confirm that certain skins do not work properly in 0.9.2 whereas others do. I could not find out a specific characteristic that causes those errors. Also when I minimize those skins, they get invisible when restored. Seems to be some bug in skins2 in loading images.

Working skins:
  • Airflow
  • Blended-e
  • ASkin
  • chaos
  • DefaultRemix
  • Ecco
  • Keagens Deluxe (only get an error message about a missing file but looks good)
  • Presume
  • Relaxed
  • Shiftie VLC
Broken skins (see screenshots below):
  • Blissta
  • Default (only volume slider)
  • iPod (transparent parts filled with black stuff)
  • WB
  • WMP11

I don't know how to fix those.

I also have these problems, but I just installed 0.9.2 for the first time and never had an installation of vlc before.

Obviously the most popular skins (including 'default') are affected, which is very annoying.
