I have an issue that i do not if it is normal .

When i enable gpu decoding (i have an ati radeon hd 5650) i can notice lower cpu usage but the subs when watching anime which are soft subs , look blurry . Is this an effect from using the gpu ? When i turn off the gpu decoding the subs are sharper .

And another question does vlc 2.0 support 10bit video ? (hi10)

GPU decoding doesn't handle soft subtitles, so it is CPU decoding for subtitles. Is there a comparison screenshot you could share to us about the quality?

Yes, VLC 2.0.x supports 10bit H.264 video.

yes i have taken some screenshots the results are like i said . The weird thing is this one ,

I kept the gpu decoding on , taken a screenshot . The left one is when vlc is playing with gpu on , the right one is a snapshot when vlc is playing the anime with gpu on. The right one is the correct one , media player classic and other players display it like this , but when i use print screen instead of taking snapshot , the result is on the left with blurry subs . I can't understand what is happening . The result should be the same logically because taking snapshots and screenshots with same settings should show the same result . When i play the movie i see the left one , when i take snapshot i see the correct one on the right .

Honestly i can't understand what is happening . A second ago the left image was displayed fine with the blurry subs now my screen shows it as blank . I can't take screenshot of vlc playing and to be displayed correctly , after a while it displays it as black for some reason .

The left one is black, try to deactivate overlay in preferences.

Disabling overlay is for the subs to be fixed or to be able to take screenshot?

i've figured out what the issue was for the blurry subs .

I was using directx directdraw because with direct3d i had screen flickering when playing video . After changing to direct3d the subs were more clear and sharp so gpu decoding had nothing to do it with it. But why does directx draw won't display the subs like direct3d?

There is either bug in the DirectDraw vout code or in your display adapter drivers.

Is there anything i can do ? Maybe change ati catalyst settings? Or update directx although i did that sometime ago

DirectDraw does not draw fine subtitles.
