Stretch Video To Fill Screen

Postby BridgetKFisher » 02 Apr 2012 16:44

I use vlc 2. something how do I stretch the video to fill the screen?

can vlc do this? I see it listed in like 3 places to use an aspect ratio. Seems dumb being in 3 spots they cant figure out how to make it just fill the window.

Choose an aspect ration matching your screen parameters (4:3, 16:9, 16:10) - use hotkey "A" or from menu: Video > Aspect Ratio > ...
Switch to fullscreen mode - hotkey "F" or double-click on video screen or from menu: Video > Fullscreen

my screen is 16:9

i want it to fil the window / screen.
What I am saying is if I play a video I dont want the black bars each time i switch the video and want to make the player play them all at 16:9. I know i had an older version that did it. Maybe vlc removed that ability since it is to advanced.

I dont want to hit A for every video file they watch. I want them all to play at 16:9. thanks

I notice that i am using 2.0.1 and that even though I set it to use 16:9 it is not saving the setting. When I go into settings it is there set to 16:9. but for each video I need to click view and select 16:9 or hit A to make it 16:9.

is this a known issue then?

You should also try cropping feature: use hotkey "C" or from menu: Video > Crop > ...
It trims edges of a picture instead of distorting of proportions (too wide or too narrow).

Tools > Preferences > (Show settings - All) > Video:
< Video cropping [16:9]
or
< Source aspect ratio [16:9]
Save and restart.
These settings works for me in VLC 2.0.1.
