VLC eating CPU

Postby lkrsF » 31 Mar 2012 05:07

When I try to watch recorded HD content VLC chokes stutters and will not play it. (wtv file) The last version would play just fine by applying the fixes at http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/ ... deo-files/ but this new one 2.0.1 just crashes and fails. I only downloaded it because of the fullscreen open bug. It won't exit and eats much cpu until I force exit it. Any suggestions?

Fixed. Reset preferences, saved and exited, restarted, went to preferences, input and codecs, checked Use GPU accelerated decoding. HD .wtv files now play perfectly using only 8-11% CPU. The reset was critical to the procedure.
