2.01 Bugs

Hiya,

Just installed 2.01 today, updating from, I believe, 1.13 (or right around there). Two problems appeared right away.

First, it won't take screenshots, which is something I do quite a lot. I get a popup window saying "Streaming/Transcode Failed: VLC could not open the encoder."

Secondly, major audio problems. Volume control has a several second delay. If I scroll up to increase volume, it does nothing, then several seconds later it suddenly leaps to where I set it and the speakers are shouting at me. Ditto for the reverse. Very hard to find the right audio level this way. This is in addition to the sound quality being fairly bad overall (and no, I'm not over 100 when this happens, as was discussed in a related thread).

Gonna roll back to the last working build for now. I don't mind the occasional bug, but in this case it's stuff I rely on regularly, so I'm gonna wait until these issues are resolved before upgrading again.

EDIT: Almost forgot, this is happening on an older HP Pavilion laptop (dv8000 series) running Vista Home Premium.

It's a bug.
Reset preferences. Or set "png" as Video snapshot format. (Tool -> Preferences -> All -> Video)

Should've been set already, as I didn't delete existing preferences. But thanks, I'll remember that next time I give 2.x a shot. Going back to 1.13 solved everything for now, so I'm happy. :)

To be honest, I also reverted simply because I don't find the newer GUI as functional. The progress bar is harder to use with the mouse, for example, and splitting the video length/current position between opposite ends just drives me nuts. A silly thing, I know, but it just really bugs me for some reason.

Hello.

DirectX audio ignores rules i set... it always uses default audio device.
I think it's a bug...

But though thank you very much for this great piece of software! :)

best regards, johncage.

Already fixed in the latest Nightly Build of VLC.

preferences, reset. if that's sufficient. Didn't change anything.
Using 2.1.0-git-20120410-0006 Rincewind

Removing %appdata%\vlc folder is best option.

I'm still encountering this problem. Is the bug still present? Is there a fix?
