VLC not remembering sesttings

This is really annoying, why is this still occurring across so many versions of VLC? I want 4;3 videos to be stretched to 16;9; i have typed "16:9" in the "source aspect ratio" box. It often works but randomly stops working, please advise

Also i want "transitions" like "Sepia" to be maintained when viewing a playlist; but most of the time when i click next video Sepia is gone; hoe to fix this?

This may relate to viewtopic.php?f=14&t=98587 if it is the same bug through out, it may be fixed in this 2.0.1. "I just checked 2.0.1 & the slider bug still exists for me still"

I have updated to the latest version but sometimes the videos do not convert to 16:9 / full screen; this only occurs when adding a folder/files to vlc and after a few videos, as wide screening of 4;3 videos works when just clicking one file. The issue seems to occur when viewing a widescreen/high res file and then clicking next (in the playlist) and watching a non high res file
