Hello,
I am new on this forum
I installed VLC 2.0.0 on the place of VLC 1.1.11.
VLV 1 reads all my videos, VLC 2 shows a black screen for all the movies avi (XviD Mpeg 4).
I have only the sound. The reader Windows Media reads them with no problem at all.
The configuration of my system is unchanged.
- Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 X32
- Processor Intel Core i7-970, HexaCore, 3,2 GHz
- Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (1024 Mb) - unchanged
- Unchanged video Drivers GeForce 295.73
- RAM 4 GO ( 3 recognized)
I do not find the answer in FAQ or the forums.
Thank you for your help.
Cordially

Open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2), then start the playback. The message dialog will complain when issues happen.

avcodec error: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping frame (computer too slow ?)
that error repeats forever. I am expeiencing same problem. avi files that would play with older version of vlc will not play with 2.0. Shows first frame frozen and thats it.

Hi,
Here the messages repeating during the video.
"avcodec error: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping frame (computer too slow ?)"
My config:
- Processor Intel Core i7-970, HexaCore, 3,2 GHz
- Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (1024 Mb)
- RAM 4 GO ( 3 recognized)
It occurs only with avi DVD Rip.
The avi films I have made myself don't have problems.
All the other formats (wmv, mpg, etc.) are working fine.
I think my computer is not too slow, because VLC 1.1 works fine.
Thank you for your help.

Hi,
Wonderfull, it's works fine.
The first solution don't works.
Preferences and Input / Codecs and in the drop-down box for Skip H.264 in-loop deblocking filter change it to All
The second solution works fine.
Input / Codecs -> Video codecs -> FFmpeg, then locate Threads, and set it to 4
Thank you for all.
Best regards.

Since I updated from 1.1.4 to 2.0.1 - I am also having problems with my .avi files that I did not have in VLC1. The problem is that at the beginning of my file I have a Title screen (text on a blank), followed by 5 or 6 pictures followed by some video. The issue is that VLC2 plays my Title screen, then does not display the pictures (just a black screen), it then plays the video. Occasionally, it displays the last picture before displaying the video.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks Ifield

I Forgot to say that if I reload an old version of VLC (0.9.9 - it was all I had!), it plays perfectly, again!
