Streaming .MKV file

Postby Wakenaam » 09 Mar 2012 06:11

Friends: I am trying to stream an .MKV movie file which was downloaded in a format *.mp4. I tried all the suggestions found on the web, but just cannot stream the movie. I am using VLC media player 1.1.11. Any suggestions how I can successfully do this? Thank you. Windows XP Pro.

What does Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) complain when you start the streaming?

mkv error: cannot load some cues/chapters/tags etc. (broken seekhead or file)
File is damaged or incorrectly muxed, You could try to remux it with tool called MKVMerge GUI which is in MKVToolnix package.

Thanks for your responses folks. The link to the file is called 4552432.mp4 and the size is 435.63 MB. Is there someplace where I can learn how to configure the settings in VLC 2.0.0. for successful streaming? The errors keep saying :"Your input can't be opened", which is port 81. Is this significant? Windows XP Pro SP3. Thank you.
