[Half-solved] VLC 2.0 - "Open with" problem

Hello!
I noticed that VLC does not remain on the list of applications used to open certain file types in the Open with menu.
Eg. the google video files (.gvi) are associated with WMP and, if I select to open them with VLC, the menu remains empty, without reference to VLC.
This problem does not occur if I open the same file with other players.
Is there a work around to fix it?
My OS - WinXP sp3 32bit

I think it would require some additional registry keys.

I solved the problem by adding this registry key:

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\vlc.exe\SupportedTypes] ".gvi"=""
Do you think this addition would interfere with the stability of the operating system or VLC?
Thanks for your attention.

It won't cause any issues for your system.

I've updated to 2.0.1 version, and I lost the registry value for .gvi file. :(
Also, same issue appears to .h264 file. (h264 works fine in VLC 2.0.1)
There is a permanent solution for solving these problems? :?:

I can add .gvi files to installer, if you provide some sample files for me.

This is a sample -> http://www.mediafire.com/?7d33fpcs5jr9uxa
Do you can add to installer the .264 and .h264 extensions also?
Thanks for your support.
