INSTALL NEW VERSION OF VLC OVER OLDER VERSION OR NOT?

When ı decıde to ınstall the new versıon of VLC
( current versıon ıs 1.1.11)
ıs ıt best to unınstall current versıon and then ınstall
the new versıon,
OR to ınstall the new over the old versıon.
What's best ?
