MP4 1080P Video Not Displaying Correctly

Postby gohanrage » 22 Feb 2012 01:16

When ever I play MP4 Video There is always about 1 Quarter of the Video on the Right side Cut off. the video will play properly in WMP12. Not exactly sure what to do to fix the problem. This issue wasn't just with version 2.0 which I just downloaded minutes ago. it was also happening with 1.1.11 or which ever the latest version was.

I have windows 7 Service pack 1

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin if it's too long.

Are you using GPU acelearation ?

Also upload a short sample of a file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to Multiupload.com or to EmbedUpload.com, so it will upload the file for you to several other hosts, and then post the link to the file here.

I would guess incorrect MP4 flags. So remuxing with MP4box+yamb hopefully fixes the file.

I tried putting on GPU acceleration to see if it would fix the problem but it didn't

I am playing the File so I get a Log right now

I uploaded to the First site the Videolan website. but I have no idea how I was suppose to get a link to my upload so it can be found. I didn't know what to put in the trac ticket location so I left that blank I figured the website would fill that in. but after the upload was complete it just told me to close the web page

I have no clue what "remuxing with MP4box+yamb" means. is it part of VLC or is it something else. I think I said earlier that these videos display properly in Windows Media Player 12. My Monitor doesn't support 1080P. 1280x1024 is my native monitor resolution. so WMP12 downsizes the video to Fit on my Screen.

There was 1 moment where the video displayed correctly in VLC but it only happened once. I didn't do anything different

MP4box and yamb are separate tools, which can be used to process MP4 files. When the file is remuxed, new file is created from audio and video tracks. This new file hopefully has working size limits (in case this issue is related to).

You can easily test out my theory by downloading something like http://mirrorblender.top-ix.org/peach/b ... p_h264.mov
and seeing if it works correctly.

I got your file named Firework but I can't reproduce the issue, it's playing fine for me with VLC 2.0 release.

Holy Cow This Video your link sends me to is over 600MegaBytes.
The Video's I use are not even 200Megabytes. the Firework Video is under 100MegaBytes
Are you sure that my video is the same. I don't see h264 anywhere in the information about my video it just says AVC.

Downloading that YAMB didn't fix the problem

Also I downloaded that Over 600 MB Video and it displays incorrectly just like the others.

How come this forum doesn't have a way to upload an Image.
The only way I can upload is if the Image is somewhere on the internet and I use the img tags.
I belong to a lot of forums and this is the first that doesn't allow me to attach a file.

I need more information where in the Preferences do I find this and what does it do?

I do not know if you are asking about VLC or the Forum. I can't see Force Threads to 4 in either

OK I have Forced the Threads to 4. Not sure what I am suppose to expect. the Video Plays the same way.

I thought maybe I add to enable hardware decoding the check box above threads but doing that didn't do anything either

One thing I always do when ever I install a New version of VLC is Disable Video Auto Scaling. I thought that may be a Problem. so I rechecked that box and now the 1080P videos are Displaying Correctly but I do not like that feature on when I am watching a Low resolution video. because it makes small videos Pix-elated. I'd rather Videos play at their Default resolution instead of Scaling.

If I do any scaling at all its the 2:1 Double option. but I usually have to select that after I've started the Video Manually

is this a Bug in the Program I have found? should I need auto Scaling check box checked to see 1080P videos correctly? see what happens if you uncheck Auto video scaling. I go to All in the preferences and click on video then uncheck auto video scaling

How to turn off auto video scaling is something I learned by Posting the question on this forum a while ago.

I hope I get some more replies on this thread. like I said auto scaling isn't good when your watching a video that is very small resolution. so I like to disable that but it seems to be the cause of the problem with watching 1080P videos
