where are speed control buttons (full screen) in VLC 2.0

i upgraded vlc 1.20 to 2.1.0.

1. "control bar" in full screen keeps snapping back to bottom of screen

2. i no longer see "faster/slower" playback speed buttons on control bar when in full screen mode.

is there a way to fix this or do i have to go back to older installation?

I don't see speed control buttons anywhere, except to right click>playback>speed, and there's only five choices. It's also a pain to get to.

You can customize your toolbar.

Tool -> Customize Interface

You can:
- click longer on next/previous button
- unhide the status to get the speed control
- customize the toolbar.

thanks, that answers my second question. (that is even better than i expected!)

now, what about 1. "full screen controller bar" keeps snapping back to bottom of screen in full screen. previous versions let me set the location of that bar.

Click on the button next to volume to unstack it.

I am assuming you are referring to the dock button. I am not using docked control bar.

I can drag the control bar anywhere I want, but it does not stay there. it keeps snapping back to bottom center of the screen.

Works for me. Reset preferences.

yes, i will have to.

it would be much easier if custom Hotkey mappings were stored separately. so they can be restored as opposed re-programmed on each computer. (for that matter ALL customizations backup/restore would be even better).

thanks.

You can copy from the vlcrc file.

Say, how do you get VLC 2.0 to show both elapsed and remaining time as well as the speed control buttons? Changing the interface profile to 1.1.x style shows the speed buttons, but removes the elapsed/remaining times.

I see all these buttons on the toolbars editor, but they don't seem to do anything.

Use the status bar. And all of them can be used in the toolbar editor.

Ohhhhh, I didn't see that earlier. Thanks!

If I set the profile to 1.1.x style and have the status bar enabled, then I have both speed control buttons and time elapsed/total time.

Can you elaborate on how to use the toolbar editor? Other than being able to change profiles, it doesn't seem to do anything.

You can drag and drop buttons to add and remove some.

Aha! That's how it works!

I guess I need to "RTFM".

Thanks so much!
