Will VLC Play This URL?

Postby RetiredEngineer » 24 Jan 2012 22:18

A radio news program I like has the following URL for today's news: "http://thedianerehmshow.org/audio-player?nid=15460". When I click "listen" on the webpage, Windows Media Player is automatically launched to play this.

Is there a way I can get such URLs to automatically play on VLC?

Kind regards,
Harold Noffke

Only Flash player in here.

If the page uses embedded Flash, QuickTime or WMP players, VLC browser plugin cannot replace those. But you can use some browser extensions (like Greasemonkey) to change HTML code in such way, that embed object is VLC browser plugin.

Greasemonkey is a Firefox add-on. I use Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0 (IE9). Can you recommend an IE9 add-on? Or, if not, can you give me a list of Google search words which would help me find one, if it exists?

For Internet Explorer, similar functionality is offered by IE7Pro, Sleipnir, iMacros, Trixie.
